Nakoro Village Solar and Diesel Generator Mini-Grid System

Located in the upper highlands of Navosa and miles away from the main electrical grid line, the 50kw Solar & Diesel Generator Mini – Grid system project has been a blessing to the people of Nakoro. The project has benefited more than 200 people including a church and the community hall. Funded by the European Union, the $1 million project have brought about immense benefits to villagers of Nakoro. For women, they can now run sewing machines and use kitchen electrical appliances. Villagers can now update themselves with current affairs, educational programs and sports through television. They can now freeze and refrigerate food for consumption and for small scale businesses. Computers are introduced for educational purposes such as online learning. Also, villagers can run labor-saving appliances and machinery.
