Minister for Public Works, Meteorological Services and Transport, Hon. Ro Filipe
Tuisawau has welcomed the 2025–2026 National Budget, describing it as a strong
and strategic investment in infrastructure-led development that benefits every Fijian.
With a total allocation of $800.1 million—an 11% increase from the previous year—
the budget affirms Government’s commitment to delivering inclusive, climate-resilient
infrastructure that connects, protects, and uplifts communities across the nation.
Key Investments in the Ministry Include:
✅ Roads & Bridges:
$387.7 million allocated to the Fiji Roads Authority, supporting the replacement of
four critical bridges and major upgrades to roads in both rural and urban centres.
✅ Water Supply Access:
$284.4 million for the Water Authority of Fiji to enhance water systems, construct
new treatment plants, and extend rural water access to over 9,600 Fijians.
✅ Energy Access:
Expansion of the EFL grid and installation of 900 new solar home systems to power
off-grid communities.

✅ Rural & Maritime Connectivity:
$31.7 million to upgrade rural roads, $12 million for jetty rehabilitation, and sustained
support for maritime freight subsidies to improve services to outer islands.
✅ Climate Resilience:
Accessing international climate finance, including a $3 million SCCF Grant to
enhance flood protection and improve water quality in Greater Suva.
✅ Empowering Landowners:
Launch of a new $7 million Resource Owners Fund to support and empower
landowning communities contributing land and resources for national infrastructure
development.
Minister Tuisawau emphasized:
“This budget is not just about concrete and steel—it’s about building a stronger Fiji
where development is inclusive, sustainable, and no community is left behind. We
are investing in people, in resilience, and in partnerships with resource owners who
are key stakeholders in national progress.”
The Ministry will continue to implement its programs with transparency,
accountability, and a focus on delivering tangible outcomes for all Fijians.
